I think it is appropriate that we start the new year with a new logo for the Ad Club, premiering with this newsletter. Congratulations to Katie Bourg, Senior Graphic Designer, Touchpoints Marketing, LLC for her creation. She receives a one-year membership to the club and our heartfelt thanks for the update, which was long overdue.
2006 was a banner year for the club in terms of successful events and new members. Don’t want to dwell on Katrina, but at the beginning of 2006 were any of us sure we’d be able to say anything positive about the year immediately following the storm? The participation of our ad community in our fun and fund raising events tells me that the industry is alive and well in New Orleans. It also speaks well of our board and committee members who stepped up to plan and execute the events. Particularly Beth Ann Brannon, Maggie Gardner, Christie Andras and Tarah Mason.
2006 also brought us some sad news with the passing of Alan Watts and Jim Pertuit, Silver Medal recipients and active members of the New Orleans Ad Club and ad community, and the passing of Steve Burns, husband of our past president, Candace Burns.
Our next event, which we are judging right now, is the Addy Awards. Addy’s, The Musical will be presented March 2nd at Generations Hall. That evening we will also present our Ad Persons and Silver Medal awards for 2006/2007.
Thanks for being a part of the Ad Club.
